News for the 2009 Children |
A new item of information gives hope to parents of Horsley children hoping for a place at the Howard in September 2009.
First, the Heads of the schools in the Effingham Learning partnership have agreed a common position with respect to Surrey County Council’s current consultation on the 2009 admissions policy. A statement signed by all the Heads of the ELP schools states that:
· Partnership schools believe that all conurbations should have access to a local secondary school.
· … where demand for places exceeds supply, conurbations which have traditionally had access to a particular local secondary school should be enabled to continue to do so.
KHITH believe parents should be encouraged by the ELP Heads statements because
- We believe it is now quite widely accepted that Horsley children only have one local, accessible secondary school, the Howard.
- KHITH has always argued strongly for an admissions policy which protects the Howard’s traditional catchment which has always included Effingham, Horsley and the greater part of Bookham. A full transcript of the ELP Head’s statement can be read here
